5 out of 5 The perfect pocket knife!

The fit and finish was perfect. Made of great modern materials! The pull was a perfect 5 – not too hard or soft. Lionsteel and CK hit a home run with this one. It is so nice, I immediately bought one in stag!

The last few years I missed out on Mike’s run of GEC 77 barlows and I was not going to miss this one. I ordered the CF because I thought the carbon fiber and Torx screws were a perfect match for the modern version of a classic style. I am completely satisfied with my choice. This knife is really beautiful, first rate workmanship and materials. Mike, please put me on the waiting list for a clip blade version of this knife if you decide to offer another run with Lionsteel.

5 out of 5 Traditional with modern materials
Gerardo Pietrantoni (verified owner) –
Very satisfied with the purchase. Nice carefree daily user. This is the kind of pocket knife you don’t have to worry about. The spear point blade and bolsters are not fingerprint magnets. Because it has torx screws, titanium bolsters and liners I chose black carbon fiber scales to present all the modern materials.
The blade came very sharp, centered and M390 is rust resistant and holds an edge much better than 1095.
With my traditionals like GEC I’m always checking for fingerprints in the blade and bolsters.
The pull is about a 4 or at best 4.5. Would have preferred a 5 or 6 but that’s the price to pay for all the modern materials. The blade tang is kind of exposed and sharp but I don’t mind that. No side to side play. Walk and talk is sharp and snaps (firmly but softer than a GEC 77 Barlow or 78.
Lightweight for its size.
Perfect F&F. Liked it so much that I have in early reserve the LionSteel Clip point Shuffler with white carbon fiber. Excellent service from CK.

Very well made knife with top notch modern materials. I sharpened mine to 15 degrees per side and added a micro bevel, and it’s a razor. One thing that doesn’t get enough mention is the affordable price. Even I can afford one. Dream come true.

5 out of 5 Outstanding Knife
J. Woodend (verified owner) –
Everything about this knife is perfect. Love the shape. Love the size. Love the weight (light). Love the steel. Love the Titanium liners. But most of all, I love the walk and talk. I’ve never had a knife with better walk and talk. The included slip is great. CK and Lion Steel did an outstanding job on this series. This knife is so good I bought two, one each of Santos and Carbon Fiber. I am currently waiting delivery on the third, Stag. That’s how good I think this knife is.

Fit and finish as said before is excellent and the pull is perfect for a beginner in the traditional knife world. The Carbon Fiber is really nicely done, very smooth but not slick.

Great design, great execution, great materials, great price. Among modern traditionals this is THE pocket knife to beat.
I would have liked the blade to be a little thinner behind the edge, since reprofiling M390 is not trivial. That said, it’s not bad, just not as keen as I prefer.

5 out of 5 Lion Steel CK01: Carbon Fiber, Santos Wood, Stag. & Abalone
Ken (verified owner) –
First, let me say that I’m not what I would consider a “traditional” knife fancier. In fact, I’d say I’m much closer to a carbon fiber, G-10, M390 and Elmax sort of guy. And so I was intrigued when I learned of this Lion Steel 21st century interpretation of the iconic Barlow knife. I’ll also admit to being leery about any knife made with natural handle materials, having seen many examples of mismatched handle slabs. That’s why my early reserve was placed for the carbon fiber model, the only synthetic material offered.
When it arrived I couldn’t have been more pleased with the fit and finish. It helps that I still retain my close-distance vision, and in fact can focus on objects about 2-1/2″ away. A very close scrutiny could detect no notable flaws. Blade centering was dead-on, something a lot of newly-made traditional-style folding knives from respected companies often overlook.
As for aesthetics, the torx fasteners bother me not at all, even on the bolster itself since this was never intended to exactly replicate a traditional pattern. And truth be told, carbon fiber, titanium bolsters and M390 blade steel are hardly traditional materials anyway. I also find nothing to fault about the radiused blade spine, liners and back spring. I think this feature helps to make the CK01 stand out, especially since it was evenly and nicely executed throughout. Also welcome was the neatly done 45-degree bevel at the end of the blade spine just above the tang; it’s a user-friendly comfort feature you just don’t expect from a slip joint knife, old or new.
I was so impressed with this knife that I yielded to temptation and soon ordered the Santos Wood, stag and abalone models. I held no real expectation that any of the three would have well-matched obverse and reverse handle slabs – it was a gamble I was willing to take based solely upon the obvious quality of the carbon fiber CK01.
At the risk of some redundancy, let me say that all three of them exceeded expectations. Fit and finish again was excellent, but most important, the handle slabs of all three models were well matched. I don’t know if it was just dumb luck or if an “eyeball” selection process was at play. All I can say is that I’m very well pleased!
Now I wonder if I should have scrounged up the spare simoleons to get the horn model as well. But since, as I discovered later, only 50 of the abalone models were made, I have to consider myself well served as it is. My most sincere complements and thanks to both Lion Steel and CollectorKnives.Net!

5 out of 5 Very impressive

Lionsteel hasn’t been winning the award for manufacturing over Chris Reeve Knives for no reason. It really shows in this model. Even the liners are crowned. Beautiful details are found all over this knife. I have not one negative thing to say about this knife. Literally perfect. I was going to grab one in Santos as well but they were gone. I am very much looking forward to more of these collaborations in the future.

James Ball (verified owner) –
This and the Rams Horn version are the first two traditionals that I have purchased in 35+ years and I am glad that I bought one of each because these are excellent knives. Great fit and finish, light weight, M390 steel, and titanium liners and bolsters make these “modern” traditionals classics.

5 out of 5 Nice mixture of modern and traditonal
callen4422 (verified owner) –
Ever thing about the knife is as described, very nice factory edge on the M390 steel and really enjoy the black carbon fiber handles and titanium materials. The walk and talk is very snappy and id say my knife has a 5 to 6 pull but easily pinchable. Love the knife so far, definitely something id recommend to anyone that likes modern folders or tradional slip joints that wants to try the other style out because I see it as a good mixture of both types of knives

The Outdoor Dude (verified owner) –
When I first saw this knife I had to have it. The whole idea of a modern take on the traditional knife appealed to me. Which is why I went with the carbon fiber handles. I tried to find something wrong with it and I just couldn’t. The whole process from ordering to receiving the knife was great. Even the literature that came with it was great. Collector Knives has a repeat customer.

I have owned more traditional pattern pocket knives then i can remember and this is by far the best i have had in my hands! The materials and build quality make it rise above everything else. i hope to see much more “improved” traditional patterns in the near future. Perfection is how i would decribe this knife in one word! its that good!

5 out of 5 Novice Review of a quality product.
Graemel (verified owner) –
I am new to the knife collecting world, so please excuse or correct any poorly made statements.
The ordering progress was an utter pleasure. The time between ordering and mailing was notably efficient. None of that, “a shipping label has been created” followed by a two day wait nonsense. It was one of those experiences where you feel the efficiency and professionalism of the folks behind the screen.
If you are on the fence about the fit, finish, or appearance of this piece, let me assure you that it is absolutely stunning. The attention to detail is tremendous. I am especially fond of the bead blasting along the spine of the blade, which is just a tiny thing that adds SO much to the overall aesthetic, blending old with the new. It feels absolutely fantastic in hand, too.
I have a few pieces so far as I dive into knife collecting, and this is the first piece that I can genuinely say I loved as soon as I opened the box.
Props to all involved in this one. I cannot wait to see more variations!!!

Wonderful modern slip joint. I’m not a collector, I’m an etc knife user and a whittler. Love it. It even whittles basswood nicely. As a. long time slip joint user the pull could have been a little more for my taste along with a more pronounced half stop. Don’t get me wrong I’m satisfied. It’s light and comfortable in the hand, more than I expected!

5 out of 5 Exceeds Expectations at a bargain price.
Top9935 (verified owner) –
The action on this knife is pleasingly solid & firm without being difficult to open & close. As an indicator of LionSteels quality control it is indistinguishable from my other CK01.
The biggest surprise was the texture of the carbon fiber scales. I was expecting a slicker finish like my Micarta CK01 but the carbon fiber has a pleasantly grippy texture which compliments the knife’s looks.
As for blade I love the shape & feel of the roundhead design. The finish is consistent, grind even & the edge is shaving sharp.
All in all I am very pleasantly impressed with this knife, and LionSteel’s quality & refinement.
Any of the CK01 series represents a high quality knife with top quality materials at a great price.
Oh and get the slip. This knife is so light it dissapears in your pocket.

I had been watching the positive reviews of the Lionsteel Roundhead in some knife forums. I put my name on the waiting list for this one some time ago. I have to say it was worth the wait!
Simple and elegant. Great fit and finish. Just the right about of pull. As a nice bonus, the carbon fiber matches the carbon fiber trim of my F-150 nicely! This was well worth the wait.

This knife has not left my pocket since it arrived. It is beautiful to look at and use. I have sharpened it once and the M390 holds that razor edge well. The fit and finish is just awesome. Everything fits smoothly together with no sharp edges anywhere. I am very happy to have this knife. It’s a perfect EDC size and non-locking makes it acceptable almost anywhere. The carbon fiber is done so well as is the hardware. Just buy one, you won’t be disappointed.

5 out of 5 Must have!
Flybum72 (verified owner) –
I’ve been collecting knives four decades and I can honestly say that this knife absolutely surpassed anything I was expecting and completely surprised me with the quality fit and finish joy you get out of this knife. I’ve got a couple of customs that are slip joints and I’ve been into GEC and North Woods knives and I’ve always been pleased with their quality but the Roundhead has set the bar at a whole nother level, so believe the hype. My only regret is I did not order this knife sooner.

5 out of 5 First traditional pocket knife
macdmg (verified owner) –
While I did see some youtube reviewers point out gaps in their fit, I did not see it in the knife that was sent to me. Compared to some well known knives in this category, the CF, titanium and M390 makes this Lionsteel a light EDC that sits well in my pocket. Dark and subtle it is quite a classy tool that I would occasionally bring out to look and feel the texture if not helping open things for my family out and about. I am glad I picked this up and may even snag another type since I love this one so much.

This little pocket knife has not left my pocket since it arrived. I have been collecting knives for around 10 years now and have probably over a hundred titianium frame lock knives and tri ad lock knives, however when I saw this round head it took me back to the days of grandad and I couldn’t be happier about it I have totally switched my collecting to traditionals and have since been picking up gec and some old school queen cutlery.I would like to give a big thanks to Mr. Latham for bringing back the momeries spent with grandad with this release knife of his. I will forever be a CollectorKnives customer from here on out.

This is more than a knife, it is a beautiful work of art. IMO, they have taken an old design and made it better with the use of technology and modern materials. The spring is very strong, the blade is very stout and perfectly centered.
The knife will long be a favorite.
The service from CK was exceptional.
Thank you!!!

This is my second Lion Steel CK Edition. Earlier in the year I bought a Shuffler. The fit and finish is perfect. I love carrying this knife so much when my Mother asked for a knife recommendation to gift her coworker I immediately showed her this one. The Spear Jack in Carbon Fiber is classy enough to carry in a board room or add to your daily EDC rotation.
