We started an early reservation system many years ago to solve a couple of simple problems. First, some factories were steering toward smaller production runs at the same time the consumer demand was increasing. And we had many customers that could not be available all hours of the day to be watching for these small runs to drop on the website. Secondly, we needed a tool to forecast actual demand from our customers for the upcoming products. So our solution was to let our customers put their name on a factory scheduled run of knives, well in advance of actual production. In doing that, there would be no mad scramble and our customers could rest easy in knowing their name was on a specific upcoming knife.
Although there were "Wishlists" and other notification systems available; CollectorKnives was the first in this industry to offer such a reservation system. Since then many have come up with some other variation. But we work very hard to make it simple for the customer while maintaining an automated system that lends no preference to any one person. Many others want to charge you either a deposit, or in some cases, the full amount. But our opinion is that it is not a service if the customer cannot have the control to systematically change their reservations when the need arises without costing them hard earned money. This is the third generation of our Early Reserve System, and we hope you find it a useful tool.
