Italo is a perfect mate for those who do not want to compromise. Fabrizio Silvestrelli drew a modern folding knife with advanced materials and technical solutions, with unique aesthetic, and plenty of character. A very distinctive drop opening plate. Offered in frame lock or liner-lock version. Italo opens so quickly thanks to flipper and ball bearings. Böhler M390 blade for extraordinary cutting qualities

5 out of 5 Glad I finally got around to purchase

I’ve been looking at this knife as my first Viper purchase for awhile, and for all practical purposes it delivers everything I expected. For anyone else thinking of it I’ll list the pros and (possible) cons:

    Pro:
The fit and finish is just fantastic on this knife. Perfect grind, nicely smoothed out in all the areas that need it and a solid lock up with no play. I was concerned about getting the liner lock version seeing how thin the leaf was, I’m no longer concerned after handling it. This knife locks up solid and with zero play or bend. I see nothing I would do in normal use that would make it fail, or more importantly accidentally disengage.

The grind is also fantastic on this knife for a slicer. The blade shape breezes through cardboard and the tip is still ground useful.

The one con I’d be aware of on purchase is it does ride so deep in the pocket that a wave open can take some getting used to. Drawing the knife while lifting the wire clip from the bottom seems to be the most reliable way for me, but it does take an adjustment from other wave knives I own. It’s a fair trade off to have it completely disappear in the pocket, but still, a consideration you should make.

The wire clip itself, well, I wish it was replaceable or sealable instead of built it. But it is sturdy enough. Not an issue, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t something I’d like to see changed on a remodel.

All in all, beautiful knife and I am very much considering the all titanium version now.
