I bought this knife as a gift. Never having owned a friction folder before I was quite intrigued with the Ohta knives. So much so that I also bought one with the birch handle. These knives have a high quality yet retain a handmade feeling. The D2 blade came with an edge capable of cleanly slicing thin shavings from a sheet of paper. The purple heart wood color and finish is superb (the birch is also beautiful). If you want to try a friction folder the Otah is the way to go. As usual the service from Mike is top notch.
