5 out of 5 Won't wear you down

This is the third Ohta I’ve bought. My first was a 5 for simple, extremely light edc. I got a 9 to keep close to the kitchen for easy slicing of bread, sausage, cheese, radishes, etc. The 7 serves the same purpose in a bit more portable version when I think I may need it. The simple design, paired with an incredibly sharp blade and beautiful handle makes me look forward to a glass of wine, charcuterie and simple vegetables. For me this is a tool that increases my appetite for fine snacking.

5 out of 5 My First Ohta Knife Wasn't My Last.

The Hiroaki Ohta Birch Wood FK7P knife was my first friction folder style knife. Mr. Ohta’s simple yet elegant rendition of a Japanese Higonokami knife is a pleasure to hold and to ogle. Besides the Birch Wood FK7P model, I also ordered the Hiroaki Ohta Ebony Wood FK5 knife. Like the bigger version, the FK5 is not only beautiful; but, is a nice compact three-finger-grip knife that will disappear in the pocket. The leather slips that came with my two Ohta’s knives are very supple and fit the knives perfectly. Both knives are very light weight, very well made, and an great inexpensive introduction to custom knives, made by a custom knife artist. I’m very pleased with these knives and the wonderful service Mike Latham and the CollectorKnives’ team provide.

5 out of 5 Beautiful knife

I’m in love. Razor sharp out of the box, and even after pretty consistent (if light) use over the last year, the edge has held beautifully. If you’re on the fence, get one.

    5 out of 5 FK7P Birch

    (verified owner)

Love it: the style, workmanship, the birch, very comfortable in the hand, perfect action, useful blade shape, sharp, next-to-nothing weight.

The included pocket slip is light and pliable. I never considered using one, but the 7 in the slip is better in the thin pockets of swimsuit-fabric shorts. I decided I’d better pick up a CK slip to try with a couple other knives.
