Notes:
4 out of 5 Great design, minor execution flaws
KenSchwarz1965 (verified owner) –
I have 3 of these Maserin Hunters now: the one and three-blade versions with smooth olive wood covers and the two-blade version with the polished dark wood covers.
Beautiful design and materials make them standout knives, but they’re not so precious to discourage regular use. The olive wood covers have a dry, soft texture, and mate perfectly flush with the bolster and pins. The main blade smoothly opens and locks with zero play. The lock release button requires a robust pinch but nothing super-human. Blades are sharp out of the box and centering is good. One of mine has back springs with minor gaps, and another with a machining scratch in the tang of the main blade—per Mike Latham these kinds of imperfections are par for the course; I’ll dock them one star. These flaws have zero impact on usability so I have no practical concerns recommending them and believe they are a great value.
The three-blade version with hooks and two-blade version aren’t as comfortable to hold as the solo blade knife, as you’d expect. For EDC, the single blade version is the best.
