5 out of 5 Lon Humphrey makes incredible knives

    (verified owner)

The knife is incredible. I wish I could say the same for the service at Collector Knives. A knife I ordered 4 days later from another dealer arrived the same day as the knife I ordered from Collector Knives. I ordered on a Saturday (during business hours, well before last pick up for shipping) and found out I was in line behind a GEC model shipping that showed up on Tuesday. I must admit, I was really annoyed to find out that a knife that wasn’t even on the premises when I ordered mine would take priority over my shipping. Also, I was disappointed to find out that the unique knife I was buying wasn’t individually photographed. Lon’s knives are hand made and there is significant variation from one to the next. The other dealers who carry his knives picture each one individually so you can see the actual model you will be purchasing. Overall, I’m very pleased with the knife, but I will look everywhere else before purchasing from Collector Knives again.

Jacob, my apologies that you didn’t have a good experience. But let me clarify some misconceptions you picked up somewhere. First, you placed your order at 2:15pm – and although I highly doubt you have ever lived in Sulphur, I can assure you that there is no USPS pick-up here after 2pm on Saturday and the windows close at 11:30. But, to be fair, we wouldn’t have made the trip to town anyway to ship one purchase. Secondly, your shipment was not waiting on orders or products available after yours. We had a large pre-order of knives that arrived on Saturday and it took us the entire weekend and Monday(Labor Day) to get them packaged. We then caught up on all packaging on Tuesday and got yours out Wednesday. Not one order that was placed after yours; nor one product that arrived after your order, beat yours out of our shop. I don’t see any reason responding to the picture issue, as it existed before you placed the order on items which are on clearance and have delrin handles. So you were well aware of that before you purchased the knife. I guess the short version is, your purchase was shipped the 2nd business day from the time it was placed and and you received exactly what you knew you were ordering – and were happy with it. So, if you need to rip a one man operation for not living up to your expectations, I am a big boy and can handle that. You are probably better served by a seller that has one person on staff just to take pictures and another that is on staff just to get shipping done – my apologies that we have neither.
