This is an excellent knife. I have an Elmax and a Raindrop Damascus. This review is for the Elmax. One, I love the steel having used and enjoyed its properties in other blades both fixed and folding. Technically they say M390 is “better”, although I fall into the category that my experience with Elmax leaves me completely satisfied and I would not be able to tell an appreciable difference. Elmax ceramics and strops back into hair popping based on my experience. The monolithic design is great on this one, and the knife is rock solid with no play in any direction based on some good torquing that I put on all my folding knives to test play. Both of my versions are rock solid. The action is smooth. This is not a flipper obviously, and it slides out and in nicely with only one hand necessary. The fit and finish is superb. Edited to add: the blade grind is even and the “off-center” is so negligible it might as well not be there. I just looked over the knife again in a combo of natural and overhead work lighting and it is darn near perfect fit and finish. I could play like an on-line nit-picker and still not come up with much because the knife is so good. And for $260, there is not much better out there for your money fort a non-tactical yet practical everyday folder.
I have carried this knife daily since received and use it for office food prep, box opening, breakdown and some other stuff. Oh yeah, with Elmax, I don’t mind cutting open tin foil Community Coffee packs at work for the large coffee maker. It does not really affect cutting performance at this hardness. The knife is slim to fit into jeans or trouser pockets and go pretty much unnoticed without hooking the deep carry clip up. I love this deep carry clip for inside of jackets (sport coat and casual), and the knife lays nicely at the bottom of sport coats’ front flap pockets – it rests in there horizontally perfectly with no discernible print whatsoever, even in my summer weight jackets.
