I ordered this after waffling back and forth between a shuffler or a dom, and finally decided on this one. It arrived very quickly, and was packaged with a lot of care, which I really appreciated.

I was expecting to maybe need to touch up the edge with a strop or maybe even a few runs on the sharpmaker, but it was super sharp out of the box.

The blade was centered, there were no obvious gaps in the backspring or between the covers and liners. The gap between the cover and bolster is visible, but I can’t really feel it when I run my finger across it, so I won’t consider that a negative.

There was quite a bit of grease in the pivot (and back of the tang), likely more visible because the box had been sitting out in my mailbox all day in the cold. None of the grease was outside of the pivot, and I’ll likely just wipe it up a bit as part of my normal cleanup.

the blade is pinch-able for opening, and I’m happy with the “walk and talk.” I’m fairly new to slipjoints, so I haven’t found what my ideal is here, but it feels fine, and I have confidence in the spring when fully open.

I’m not the biggest fan of carbon fiber, but these covers look great, and is starting to win me over.

At first when the barlow caplifter was announced in early reserve a day or two ago, before my Dom arrived, I was ready to basically turn around and return this knife for that one, but after this experience with the CK01 fit and finish, I will likely happily wait and order a barlow caplifter when it becomes available.

My only hope is that the barlow caplifter could maybe come with a clip/shuffler main blade… 🙂
