5 out of 5 So good I had to buy another

I already had this knife but with the random carbon fiber handles (see my review of that one). That knife quickly became my favorite knife. Now I have two favorite knives.

5 out of 5 Little Jewel

    (verified owner)

After a quick visual is when I check my new knives’ sharpness but this time the visual part took 5 whole minutes. I appreciate the strong half stop as a good safety feature and the satin finish on the blade contrasts well with the bolsters. The knife is so light and is imperceptible in my pocket, a prized feature for a guy who likes to carry 3 or 4 knives. I keep admiring the shape and efficient build of this knife, simple but elegant. The “bone” micarta scales have that bone color with a micarta feel. I had no need to improve the sharpness, well done already. Like ‘knife jewelry’s this is my true gentleman’s knife.

5 out of 5 Great introduction to traditionals

    (verified owner)

I am a modern folder guy. I have never been able to get over the hump of the lower quality steels in traditional blades. I understand the reasons behind it, but traditionals have just never been my thing…until I saw this knife!

At first sight, before looking at any of the specs, I knew I wanted to buy it. It just looks so fantastic. And with M390 at this price, it is a no-brainer.

I was not disappointed getting it in hand. My EDC is a large Sebenza 21, but I find myself pulling this knife out to use instead where I can. It’s a great, great little knife, and absolutely worth trying out if you’ve never given traditionals a shot.

5 out of 5 Almost custom quality!

    (verified owner)

The example I received is perfect, with a build quality that’s hard to believe at this price point. Considering you are getting M390 blade steel and titanium construction below $150 is mind blowing! I wish I found out about these sooner, as I am a big fan of sheepsfoot blades and missed out on the Dom offerings.

The only con I found about this knife was I thought the bone micarta scales are a little slick. When buying this I assumed bone micarta was just referring to the color and not the texture, but my scales are literally very smooth like bone.

    5 out of 5

I’ve had my Shuffler for only a few days now and cannot give enough praise to this knife.
The build quality is great and the description on this site is accurate. Excellent walk and talk with a nice pull, about a high 5 in my opinion.

The edge is great from the factory, and I’ve found no need to reset the bevels as I’ve had with other makers. Hair-popping sharp, even and consistent from heel to tip. No burrs, just a razors edge ready for work.

What a found most appealing about the Shuffler is how light it is. The titanium liners and bolsters ensure a sturdy knife while keeping things from being too heavy, which is my usual complaint about traditional Barlow patterns. This one rides nice and easy in the pocket, which will guarantee that I carry this one for a long time.

5 out of 5 Pocket knife Perfection

I honestly cannot find or think of anything negative to say of this knife. If the star rating went higher i would go there. It is truly perfection in a pocket knife.

    5 out of 5 Nice!

Very well made. Fit and finish is spot on. I’m pleased with it. Nice little details also. The rounded spine, backspring to match, and in a great steel.

5 out of 5 Crisp and Clean

    (verified owner)

Nice hard crisp snap, beautiful finish on the blade and bolsters. Super tight with firm pull. I love the symmetry on these knives. These knives have the practicality of a field hand with the svelte of a supermodel. To each his own but aesthetics is high on my priority list. Looking forward to the two blade models.

    Question

Mike, will you be getting prototype pictures at some point? I would really like an idea of how the ebony and especially bone micarta look prior to committing. Thanks!

I have several single-blade Barlow knives — everything from Case to Schatt & Morgan to Taylor’s Eye Witness to Wostenholm to Tom’s Choice etc. And I carry my knives. This Clip Jack is the only one that is almost exactly what I would have designed for myself. The only thing I would have done differently starting from scratch is 3 1/2″ rather than 3 3/4″. So, to me it as close to perfect as I could expect. It’s in my pocket and all the others are hereby retired.

Short answer: No. Once we contract with the factory they go 100mph to finish the order, they don’t spend more time on prototypes. They sent me a handful of prototypes for the second Shuffler run, but mostly slabs we were not interested in ordering.
