5 out of 5 Fusion Cuisine!

It’s hard to express how fantastic this piece is. This would make a fantastic entry into the traditional folder world for anyone whose primary interest has been modern folders. The knife can be easily pinched open, light pull, but solid walk and talk. Fit and finish is outstanding. I have yet to see a bad example. The ram’s horn is probably the standout cover option, they have been simply beautiful- great colors, many dark, contrasting covers, a few lovely honey-colored ones, and some great translucent whites.

For anyone who was starting to get the itch to go traditional from modern, or for any traditional fan who always wanted a ‘traditional’ knife updated to the current zeitgeist in cutlery materials.

11/10, eagerly trying to scrape up the money for another before they’re gone!

EDIT: Also, need to single out Mike for being an all-around great dealer. Would gladly purchase from him again.

I was never impressed with Italian products , but since Mike was involved with it I decided to try it . 3 & 3/4 inch long with 1&1/4 bolster with a blade or blades on one end qualifies it as a Barlow in my opinion .I received some very nice external Ramshorn . All screws look like they are installed well and are even with the covers and bolsters .Blade is centered . Pull is about a 4 or 5 and it is punchable . No scratches any place .It is very well sharpened in my opinion . It is nicer & better than I expected and I am very satisfied with it .

5 out of 5 Traditional gone modern wonderfully

    (verified owner)

My first of two Lion Steel Round Heads, the Ram Horn model prompted my purchase of a second in Stag configuration shorty afterward. Having only recently opened up my collection to Slip Joint model knives, these Lion Steels join my Case, GEC, and Benchmade 319 models as frequent carry blades along with some of my other possibly less appealing models to some people. The F&F on the Lion Steel Barlows is exquisite, fit in the hand is quite comfortable, and the modern M390 blade steel with the traditional styling make for a perfect Gentleman’s folder when a more tactical style knife would seen out of place in some venues or functions. While more expensive than some of my Case models, the Lion Steel Barlows exude the workmanship and quality one gets when owning one. I can’t honestly say it’s heads and shoulders better than the Benchmade 319 except possibly in the blade steel choice and aesthetics. The BM 319’s S30V is still a reputable and capable choice in a knife of its size and function and serves well in a knife of its design for its intended use and its thin profile make it a wonderful carry. The over all look, feel, and classy line of the Lion Steel Barlow however make it an instant conversation piece when put to use among friends and acquaintances. Your street cred as a discerning knife owner/collector takes a step up with this knife and it’s one you’ll be proud to own and pass on in years to come.

5 out of 5 Gorgeous and About Time

    (verified owner)

I know this is the second run and I am not going to compare each run. Instead, I want to compare it to the quality work that it is and to other traditional knives. The knife is flawless imo. The edge is wonderful and hair popping. The F/F is near perfect with only a slight bit of light shinning through the back-spring. The Pull is easily handled with one hand but stiff enough to give confidence of quality. Top that with Rams horn of excellent fitting and form and with M390 and you have a steal at this price.

Adapt and Intergrate is the code to survival and this is the next step in traditional knives and a wonderful collaboration. While those who romance the past and forget the reality of the past it may not be traditional enough but that is just a mindset of ideology and philopshy; get past that and see this a great step forward for traditional knives.

I really hope for other patterns and trust Mike and his team if they put there name on it along side whoever makes it.

    Well done Mike and Lionsteel

5 out of 5 Great Barlow

    (verified owner)

I have been a fan of the single blade barlow style knife. since I was a kid (long, long ago). To me that essentially what this is. I was going to give it 4 stars but thought, what’s not to like? It is obviously a tough knife for its size. The titanium components make it light. I got the rams horn and the slabs are well matched.
first time for this steel, but from what I have read, it is cutting edge (pun intended). Would be a great addition to my EDC rotation but it sure is pretty. Have not decided that yet, but have concluded it is a good buy.

I had high hopes for this knife, and those hopes were exceeded. A great modern interpretation of the classic Barlow pattern, the Roundhead combines terrific materials and simple construction into a knife that is worth more than the sum of it’s parts. I am well pleased with my purchase.

Ferrari or LionSteel? If it came in red, you couldn’t tell the difference.
First off, Mike, great job on choosing LionSteel for this CK Edition. I hope to see more in the future.

The quality is a 10 out of 10. (My reference for quality is the Spyderco Chaparral Raffir Noble.)
Everything Mike says in his YouTube video is exactly how it arrives at your door.
Customer service is 10 out of 10 also.
While the Lionsteel is within my price range for EDC knives, if it were 5 times the price, I would still want it.

Every gentleman should carry a Lionsteel, and this goes equally for women.

5 out of 5 For Rams Horn Fans

    (verified owner)

This is a great deal for such a quality knife with premium blade steel. The knife design is awesome and it has very good fit & finish. The titanium makes it noticeably light, but it still feels very capable. With rams horn, you just have to be prepared to be surprised because there’s no telling what your scales will look like. As long as you appreciate the variability, you’ll be happy with your unique knife.

This and the CF version are the first two traditionals that I have purchased in 35+ years and I am glad that I bought one of each because these are excellent knives. Great fit and finish, light weight, M390 steel, and titanium liners and bolsters make these “modern” traditionals classics.

5 out of 5 FANTASTIC. buy one now!

    (verified owner)

This is an amazing knife. as far as aesthetics; it hits all the sweet spots for me. size? again hits all the sweet spots. I got 3 different handle materials and like them all, but especially the rams horn! beautiful, lovely dark horn. put an edge on the knife, EDC’ed it for a couple weeks and is still stupid sharp, so the steel must be good. have already reserved for the next run (clip point, my favorite!)

5 out of 5 Excelllent Modern Slipjoint

    (verified owner)

The slipjoint is exceptional. I was lucky enough to have purchased 4 roundheads in different handle materials. The rams horn is my favorite.

Considering it’s M390 and Titanium, it’s a hell of a deal and should last you a life time, without much need for maintenance. Only downside is the pull is a bit weaker than what I like. It’s about a 4-5. Walk and talk is perfect though.

It’s a shame these sold out immediately. If another run is announced, I’d highly suggest you preorder here to experience it for yourself.

Lastly, this is so much better than the Benchmade Proper and both knives are similarly priced. There’s no comparison.

I like modem fixed blades, and traditional slip joints…. I never thought I would buy a modern slip joint. HOWEVER, I took the chance in this one (CK01 in Ram Horn) and I am glad I did. It’s well made, beautiful, the is perfect size. I will surely get the wharncliffe version as well.

5 out of 5 Spectacular Rams Horn at Value

    (verified owner)

Roundhead Spear Rams Horn is the right barlow size, tight and snappy. The lighter colored horn handles are creamy shade with darker highlights. The curved swirled smiles are matched mark and pile! This example is thick and translucency is most apparent from the overview. This is just another winner from CK – Lion Steel collaboration with excellent service from Mike’s shop.

5 out of 5 Outstanding knife!

    (verified owner)

The quality and craftsmanship on this knife is outstanding. Opening, closing, the half stop are all crisp and a pleasure to perform and the fit and finish is second to none. It was razor sharp out of the box and I am sure that the M390 is a lot more metal than I actually need for the use this knife will have.

My only gripe would be that I would have preferred a dark color on the ram’s horn, yet received a greyish like color. That being said, the material is beautiful and the texture gives it character.

5 out of 5 Instant EDC Addition

    (verified owner)

I was looking for something more workplace appropriate than the assortment of “black” knives I have been going to for years. I’ve always been an admirer of Barlows and this retro-modern take on the pattern is a perfect blend of what I wanted/needed. I absolutely adore this wee little Gent’s knife. Picked up a little pancake sheath to get it out of my pocket. I’ll be buying a few more of these CK’s in the months to come. Very satisfied.

5 out of 5 Great Modern Slipjoint

    (verified owner)

Love this modern take on a classic slipjoint. The M390 super steel is tough and worry free. No need to oil the blade all the time on this one. The quality of this knife is perfection. Walk and talk is superb, pull is around a 5-6, super smooth action. The Ram’s Horn covers are beautiful. I am now considering buying the other blade styles in Ram’s Horn as well.

I am hopelessly old fashioned. This was my first ever knife with a super steel blade. I have almost bought one of these ever since the first run came out. I never ordered one because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sharpen it. Should never have worried, because the edge is easy to maintain. I have cut everything in sight with it dulled it and brought the edge right back. It is also crazy lightweight compared to knives of similar size. Rams horn looks cool too.

5 out of 5 Beautiful knife!

    (verified owner)

I think I’ll just wind up echoing all the other reviews, but man this knife is awesome. It’s SO nice to see an evaluation of the pull and half stop in the product description too. That helps one buy with confidence in what they’re getting. And THIS knife is just awesome. The ONLY thing I would say is that because they’re rams horn slabs / scales, the color and texture varies from knife to knife. My knife came with mostly chocolate brown tones – no lighter browns or cream. But I love it, that would have been my preference anyway. This is my second purchase (and third since I bought two knives this time), and won’t be my last!
