5 out of 5 Can't keep it out of my pocket

I’m very impressed with this knife. F&F is great, walk and talk is amazing, materials are first rate, the micarta looks amazing and has grip. No issues that I see. Shuffler, here I come.

5 out of 5 A great classic pocket knife with a rustic look...

This offering is much closer to the original look of the ” Barlow” than the other knives… If there is a problem with Lion Steel, it is that the “fit and finish” is too good for the original “Barlow” idea; and that ain’t a bad thing… The micarta makes these knives look much more “rustic”… Meanin that this one is much closer to a”workin knife”… My other Lion Steel Barlows are pretty much to look at… This one is to be carried and lovingly used… These knives simply have no equal as to fit and finish… That includes GEC…..

5 out of 5 Micarta is amazing on this knife.

    (verified owner)

Not much to add about the knife. The walk and talk needed no adjustment on mine. Zero blade play, would not want the pull to be any stronger or my fingers would be sore from all day of pinching open. Love the knife. A friend also got one in Rams Horn and it is jus incredibly beautiful. Micarta is certainly gripier and a great user knife. After taking it down to 18 deg per side it is an amazing apple slicer. Now I want a Ram Shuffler and one from Roundhead ver. 3.
    Thanks Mike, great knife!

5 out of 5 Excellent knife

A lot of things to like about this knife:
    – Easily pinchable (with nail nicks on both sides of the blade) even though the blade does not stick out much above the handle.
    – M390 and titanium do not rust like 1095, so I can use the knife on fruit etc. without worry, and wash it out afterwards.
    – Lightweight, only 2.11 ounces for the natural micarta, easier to carry.
    – Micarta scales provide some grip and are durable. I may make some scales out of stag or mammoth bone. Each scale is 11/16″ wide at its widest, and just over 2 3/8″ long.
    – Walk and talk is fine after some oiling with mineral oil and working the blade.

5 out of 5 Highest quality

I have upwards of 150 traditional knives and this is sitting near the top in quality. Lion steel and Mike have outdone themselves on this run. I’m a huge fan.

5 out of 5 Still The Best Slipjoint In The World, But...

    (verified owner)

I bought three of these new versions, bocote, white carbon fiber and micarta. I like the improvements, but the walk and talk was not as good as the first version. The action came sluggish compared to the first version, and it took a lot of oiling and excercising of the action to smooth them all out. Lion Steel dropped the ball on the “smoothing out” side in this batch. But they were all salvagable.

I love this knife, will be getting the Shuffler as well, waiting for this batch was worth it. Probably the best made slip joint short of hand made.
      Thanks.

      Mike Latham

Everyone has a preference on what the action should be like. It is a matter of adjusting the pivot torx to suit your needs. Although I have noticed that after a little “break-in” time it does ease a little on its own.
