Unwrapping the knife, and holding it in my hand, one is struck by how comfortable it is to hold, it just felt really natural and super functional. The slightly fat bone gives a really good grip and lots of area if you want to really bear down on something.
Opening the knife is easy, the pull is about the same as my spring green #74 but still reasonably firm. I am not in favor of a nail bending pull, I want something I can still open even if I just got out of the shower.
I wasn’t sure I would like the Frontier Bone handles, but within a day or so it had worked its magic on me, and I find them really attractive! Looking at the handle, it is reminiscent of one of those Japanese or Chinese landscapes. That may not be the case with the darker versions of this bone.
Fit and finish is the typical for GEC: nearly perfect! I think overall proportions and aesthetics are excellent, and the blade to handle ratio is pretty high, similar to the #73. The only nit I can point to are a couple of black “smudges” on the end of the handle. I think they might be bits of ground metal that got into the bone, but then again it might be natural.
The downside of this knife is that it may be too pretty to use! Then again, I think the pinnacle of design/manufacture is to create an object which is beautiful and supremely functional at the same time.

Large and well proportioned pocket knife. The frontier bone has distressed appearance that I think is appealing. The snap on my example was a bit soft the first time I closed the blade, but is improving with use. The blade was VERY SHARP from the factory.
