5 out of 5 Beautiful Knife

Love the knife. Collector Knives kept me informed incredibly well when GEC was running a little behind on the production of this one. Greatly appreciate that. Pull and snap is perfect. Nice big blade. Fit and finish is, well, GEC perfect. All around good experience here with CK.

Has the worst spring of any slip joint I have ever opened. GEC needs to work on their QC. The last few that I have gotten have not been up to their past standards.

4 rather than 5 stars only because I would have liked to see a little more snap than this has BUT it is sufficient. Sports the usual fine fit and finish. This one goes into collection, but I bought two of the autumn gold one of which I am using. Snap has improved with use so I would expect the same if you were getting this model to put into use.

5 out of 5 Lemon Pie bone knife

Looks just like a lemon pie ! I lubed it up SEAL1CLP, buy both products from Mr. Mike. My #97 Stag knife is the best. I have 20 GEC knives in my collection, right now.

    4 out of 5 2nd Allegheny.

I’ve got this knife in the gabon ebony and now in the smooth yellow bone. The smooth yellow bone has a nice crispy action after flushing the joint. Pull is on the lighter side, but I’m not one that minds a light pull as long as the walk is smooth and the talk is crisp. Great transitions, and an otherwise nice knife from GEC. I’ve noticed that for some reason the blades seem to come with a slightly sharper factory edge on these 97s than on many of GEC’s other patterns.

    5 out of 5 Love these 97s

    (verified owner)

I already had a beaver tail 97 and finally decided to order another one, since they’re still around and I like the pattern so much. The yellow is nice, it seems like GEC doesn’t do too many color dyed bone covers. Pull is slightly lighter than my other 97, but the action is good. I think all these 97s had “lighter pulling” backsprings, but that doesn’t bother me. Collector knives always packages the knives really well.
