5 out of 5 First GEC

After seeing GEC knives all over social media, I decided to take the plunge… only to find out how difficult is is to find one! The #62 wasn’t my first choice, but it seemed the only place to start (other than the 97 which is a bit large for me here in FL).
I must say I’m thrilled with it, and if the quality on mine is indicative of other GEC folders, I can’t wait to see what I can find in the future.
The orange delrin looks great peaking out of the blue pocket slip.
The 5* review applies to my purchasing experience with Mike and CK as well. I’ve purchased two lionsteels from CK and three pocket slips and always get what I expect, if not more.

4 out of 5 Solid Fit & Finish and build quality, wish it came a little bit sharper

I only recently got into whittling, and had been doing so with a ~3″ pocket knife. I found that I was having a lot of difficulty with smaller cuts and detailed work, then stumbled upon this knife while beginning my new journey into slipjoints and modern traditionals.
Upon arrival, I inspected the knife for general fit and finish, and it’s on par with what I would expect for GEC. No obvious/visible gaps around the liners, the large blade sits perfectly between the two smaller blades, the springs are flush at open/close, and the knife feels comfortable in hand (which is really important as I’m still trying to learn how to not squeeze the knife too hard when whittling). The half stops feel very solid, and the springs inspire confidence when open, even on the smaller blades.
My only complaint is that all three blades out of the box did not cleanly cut paper. I haven’t had time yet, but I plan to see if just stropping can get them sharp enough for whittling, or if I’ll have to take them to stones. This is the only reason why I’ve docked this knife one star.

Just wanted to add a comment that I was able to get all 3 blades extremely sharp with just a quick/simple strop. Now that I’ve had this for a bit longer, I’m significantly more impressed with the overall fit and finish, and I’m looking forward to actually doing some whittling with this knife. At this point in time, I would upgrade the knife to a 4.5 star review if possible.

Another great purposeful knife from GEC. Good price for a quality tool. As for CollectorKnives, they are the absolute best in the business.

great knife for light to medium usage. Blades sharp and centered with no rub marks. Blade color is a pleasing orange and easily spotted when laid down or dropped in field
