    5 out of 5 A true whittler

Another great knife from GEC. All three blades came sharp and are very responsive to stropping. Collector Knives is always a great company to do business with.

5 out of 5 Excellent Everyday Carry Pocket Knife

    (verified owner)

Beautiful handle material, polished natural linen micarta with polished brass pins. The handle looks a bit odd without the normal bolsters, but you have to take what they offer. I would prefer it with bolsters but I can’t mark it down for that because I knew what it was when I ordered it. The blades are polished and perfectly centered. Overall fit and finish is superb, which is no surprise for any GEC owner. The spring design is unique, at least I have never seen this design before. There are two back springs which function independently for the two smaller blades, but they function together as a single spring for the main blade. The resulting pull is fairly light for the small blades, but pretty stiff for the main blade. Pull strength is a personal preference so this may or may not be to your liking. I prefer a slighter lighter pull but this knife is still useable for me. (This Farm & Field version is a slightly harder pull than the Tidioute version which I also have.) All the blades have a distal taper, which means they are thicker near the handle and get progressively thinner toward the tip. The blade lengths on the Pocket Carver are a bit shorter than the average pocket knife. The main blade is right at 2 inches and the small blades are 1-3/8 inches. This is a plus for everyday carry in this age of weapon phobia. The blades are small enough that they shouldn’t intimidate any but the most phobic souls, but large enough to still be useful. The wharncliff blade shape is great for opening letters and packages. The tip on these knives is extremely pointy. I got a bit careless while cutting up boxes for disposal and discovered the tip will pierce your skin before you know what you’ve done. The GEC #62, both the Easy Pocket Congress and the Pocket Carver, are the ideal everyday carry size for many people. They are large enough to get a full hand grip, but thin and light enough to easily carry in the pocket. The only downside to this knife is the polished handles are so beautiful I almost don’t want to put it in my pocket to get scuffed up. I like this pattern so much that I have five of them in different handle materials. I highly recommend it.
