    Question

You say the stag is mediocre. Can you post a sample pic?

It wouldn’t be of any value as they vary so wide that people would assume the pictured was representative. I have yet to have anyone unsatisfied.

4 out of 5 Great experience, just ok knife

I don’t expect perfection when buying stag but the scales were not symmetrical at all on this knife. CK did divulge that scales were mediocre, so I expected texture or color issues but not a drastic difference in symmetry between the 2 scales. Shipping was fast and my experience was good just not that happy with the product.

Just to clarify, this knife was bought at a discount as a cull due to the stag. So Darin, as he mentioned, bought it knowing it was not the standard product.

Nice fit and finish. Wanted something in stag but love the fusion of traditional and modern materials.

5 out of 5 fantastic pocket knife

Beautiful stag on this one. I liked the frame so much it was hard to wait for the blade shape I wanted, but I am glad I did.

I think it is most appropriate to compare this knife with the CK shuffler, which I also really like. This has a little more blade height than on the shuffler, a touch more cutting edge. The action feels really similar, but the pull feels a little more firm, which for me is a good thing. This knife fits in well with my other favorite slipjoints like my GEC 54, and my bullnose in size and function . Won’t be leaving my pocket for a long time now.

As usual prompt shipping and excellent customer service from Mike.

The Stag scales were better even than the pictures…which I think look pretty good. I am not a slip joint guy and bought this for my Father for Fathers day. That said…I was almost tempted to keep it, it is so nice. Action seemed great (my slip joint experience limited to old Case and Hardware store knives of my youth). Materials are great, with very, very good fit and finish. Really happy with my purchase and quick shipping. Really looking forward to giving this knife and the CK leather slip to my Dad. Now, I just pray he does not cut himself 🙂

Now it’s the end of the month and I’ve had it nearly every day. Easily my favorite pocket knife. The only way Mike could get me to buy another one would be to come out with a version with a 4″ blade (ala queen mountain man/ GEC 42).
