5 out of 5 Problem Queen City Knife?
biomed (verified owner) –
I have read about the hit and miss quality of Queen knives from this time period. The only Queen knife I previously owned is a Schatt & Morgan Quart Barlow that I like very much. I bought the QC Red Wood Copperhead not knowing what to expect. I am not sure what attracted me to this knife; more than likely it was the wood and 1095 steel, not to mention the price. While not the quality of the S&M or my GEC knives, the copperhead is not bad at all. Both blades are centered and do not have any play. The walk and talk IMHO is good. I think the fit and finish is great for a knife in this price range. There are no gaps between the wood and bolsters. The red wood is nicely finished. The only thing I noticed was a tiny crack in the edge of the mushroom of one rivet – nothing to keep me using the knife. The only other slip joint in this price range I own is a Bear and Son muskrat. The copperhead in my book is a much better knife than the Muskrat. With a bit of edge honing it will be ready to be a working tool.
A surprisingly good knife for the money!
